Al-Nuri Mosque is the most famous heritage mosque in Mosul. It was built around nine centuries ago by Nur al-Din Mahmoud Zangi, the Turkic ruler of Mosul and Aleppo who was one of the Muslim leaders during the Second Crusade. The mosque is famous with its leaning al-Hadba minaret, which is the main landmark of Mosul.
This project works on producing digital documentation of the structure of the mosque. In addition, the project records memories of Mosuli people that highlight the role and the impact of this mosque on the local community.
