For the Architectural Heritage Documentation of Old Mosul
In the aftermath of severe destruction of Mosul’s heritage assets and displacement of its communities, Mosul’s heritage built environment is at risk of gradual disappearance. This prize is a part of the research project 'Preserving the Disappearing Cultural Heritage of Post-War Mosul', which aims to celebrate the heritage of Old Mosul, and to contribute towards the efforts to preserve and revive this heritage. The project involves a number of activities, including this competition: Turath competition for architectural documentation.
There are two aims from this prize:
Students of the University of Mosul were invited to attend workshops and to work in groups on producing architectural documentation of a heritage structure from one of the following two categories:
Participants worked in groups on producing the followings:
Registration was free of charge. Following the registration, participants were invited to a workshop about heritage documentation techniques. Then, each group was assigned a heritage structure in Old Mosul. Each group spent around two months working on producing documentation of its assigned structure.
